Solution

Archive your iPhone photos without iCloud

Your iPhone is full and iCloud keeps asking for more. PhotoCore copies your photos and videos to a folder or drive you own, checks every file byte for byte, and keeps the archive searchable even when the drive is unplugged. Nothing goes to the cloud.

How it works

Copy your camera roll to a drive you own

From a full phone to a safe archive

Connect your iPhone over USB and PhotoCore copies your photos and videos to the folder or drive you pick. A fast scan shows what is already archived before it starts, so you only copy what is new. Your originals land on your disk, and the index stays on your Mac.

  • A scan shows what is new before copying
  • Every file verified byte for byte
  • Archive stays searchable when the drive is unplugged

Why it helps

What archiving without iCloud gives you

Verified, not just copied

Each file is hash compared after copying. Verified means the byte on your disk is identical to the byte on your phone.

Free up space without fear

Once the copy is verified you can delete from the phone yourself, knowing the archive is safe on a drive you own.

Searchable even offline

Index the drive once and find any shot by description later, even with the disk unplugged. See the offline photo search page.

One way, nothing deleted

The flow only goes phone to archive. PhotoCore never deletes or changes anything on your iPhone.

Good to know

Your archive is searchable, not just stored

An archive is only worth keeping if you can find things in it. Once PhotoCore has imported your camera roll, you can search it by meaning with on-device AI, recognize people, and see shots on a map. Everything runs on your Mac, and searching keeps working when the external drive or NAS is disconnected, which is exactly how a photo archive should behave.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does PhotoCore delete photos from my iPhone?
No. The transfer is one way, from phone to your drive, and it never deletes anything on the phone. You free up space yourself from the iPhone Settings once the copy is verified.
Where do my photos go?
To a folder or external drive you choose, outside iCloud and other clouds. PhotoCore remembers that destination for each phone.
How do I know the copy is safe?
Every file is hash compared after copying, byte for byte. If a file does not match, it is transferred again automatically. That is the proof you need before freeing up space.
Does it work with Android?
Yes. iPhone connects over USB, and Android phones and cameras connect in photo transfer (PTP) mode. The flow is the same.
