How it works

Local AI, in three steps

01

Pick a folder

Choose any folder with up to 200 photos. Your browser reads the files directly from disk, nothing is transmitted anywhere.

02

Every photo becomes a point in space

The SigLIP 2 vision encoder turns each photo into a 768-dimensional embedding. Photos with similar content (same place, same subject, same style) end up close in that space.

03

The map unfolds

UMAP, a dimensionality-reduction algorithm, projects those 768 dimensions onto your screen while preserving neighborhoods. You watch the constellation form live, then pan, zoom and explore the clusters the AI found.

04

Download PhotoCore for your complete archive

The browser tools are built for quick analysis of up to 200 photos. PhotoCore for Mac indexes your complete archive, works completely offline and keeps your AI index permanently on your computer.

Your privacy comes first

  • Your images are never uploaded.
  • Everything happens inside your browser.
  • We never store your photos.
  • We never see your files.
  • No login.
  • No tracking of your images.
  • No cloud processing.

Most "online photo tools" send your images to a server. This one works the other way around: the AI model (~95 MB, one-time download from the Hugging Face CDN) comes to you, and everything after that happens on your device. Verify it yourself: open your browser's DevTools → Network tab. After the model download you will see zero outgoing requests while Constellation, Similarity Map works through your photos. The page's Content-Security-Policy technically blocks connections to any host other than the model CDN, so your photos cannot be uploaded, even by accident.

This is the same philosophy as the PhotoCore app for Mac: your entire photo archive, organized and searchable by meaning, with zero cloud, on drives you own, even offline.

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is an image constellation?

A radial map of your folder: a central hub with the semantic groups of your photos arranged around it, connected by arcs that show visual affinity (with a similarity score) or time sequence (with a time gap). It is the browser version of PhotoCore's Constellation view.

Why are similar photos close together?

Each photo is a 768-dimensional SigLIP 2 embedding; photos with similar content have similar embeddings. Groups are formed by agglomerative clustering, and groups that resemble each other are placed adjacent on the circle.

Can I zoom into clusters?

Click any group to open it and browse all its photos in a panel; the full-screen button in the title bar gives the map the whole display. The granularity slider splits or merges groups live.

How are embeddings created?

By the SigLIP 2 vision encoder running in your browser (WebGPU or WebAssembly). No photo or embedding ever leaves your device.

Is this tool really free?

Yes. No payment, subscription or trial is required. The browser tools are completely free, up to 200 photos per folder.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Just open the page and start using it. No login, no email, nothing to sign up for.

Do I need a credit card?

No. There is nothing to pay and nothing to unlock.

Are my images uploaded?

Never. The AI model is downloaded to your browser, and every photo is analyzed on your device. The page's Content-Security-Policy technically prevents any upload.

Where does the AI run?

Inside your browser, using your computer's GPU (WebGPU) or CPU (WebAssembly). The model is SigLIP 2, the same one used by the PhotoCore Mac app.

Can you see my photos?

No. Your photos never reach our servers, we have nothing to see. There are no image trackers and no analytics on your files.

Do you store anything?

No images are sent to our servers. Results live only in your browser; a local cache (embeddings and thumbnails) stays on your device and you can clear it anytime from your browser settings.

Does it work offline?

Once the page and the AI model are loaded, all photo analysis happens locally. The one-time model download (~95 MB) is the only thing that needs a connection.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome and Edge give the best experience (WebGPU acceleration and folder access). Safari and Firefox work too, with automatic fallbacks.

Is there a limit?

The browser version is intended for quick analysis, up to 200 photos per folder. Start on your Mac with 200 photos. Unlock PhotoCore Full to index your complete archive across folders, external drives, and NAS.
