PhotoCore 1.10: albums out of Photos, the why behind Best Shot, saved searches
Version 1.10 (September 2026) answers three requests that followed 1.9. Export albums as folders takes an archive made with Archive Apple Photos and writes its albums as plain folders on a disk you choose: one folder per album, Photos folders as subfolders, photos in two albums in both, with Originals and Current edits kept apart if you want. Every file is written, read back and checked against the fingerprint of the original; each export lands in a new dated folder, so nothing in Photos, in the archive or in a previous export is touched; the export pauses if the disk goes away and resumes from where it stopped, and it ends with an HTML report and a JSON manifest. Why this Best Shot? makes the star on the recommended photo clickable: a popover gives one or two measured reasons (sharper subject detail, less highlight clipping, better captured faces, higher visual score) and admits a tie when the top two are too close; the scores themselves have not changed. Saved searches keep text, filters, sources, Picks and ranking, and run again on the photos present each time they are opened. Nothing leaves the Mac
Apple lists the app as “Data Not Collected”. Indexing, semantic search, face analysis and Stories run on device. After setup, core search works with Wi-Fi off.
The drive in the drawer stays searchable
Index a drive once and it stays searchable while unplugged: previews, paths and the semantic index remain on the Mac. Reconnect only to open the original file.
